Symbol Pocket PC - Loading Compilers

Boy was this a pain in the ... at least it was free.

According to Symbol (Chapter 10 of the Symbol Pocket PC 8800 PDF Manual) this is all that you need to install

Symbol Mobility Developer’s Kit (SMDK) for Embedded Visual C 4.0 (eVC4)
Symbol Mobility Developer’s Kit (SMDK) for .NET
Symbol Device Configuration Package (DCP) for PPT 8800.

To get these, you will need to "sign up" at http://devzone.symbol.com/ (Not reachable from the main Symbol page - if you don't know it is there, you can't find it. Actually, it is listed in Chapter 10 of the PDF file. I finally saw it after 2 days of reading.) (BTW, I hate sites that require sign ups.)

However, to install the SMDK

Your system must be running Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000

and you will need to install (at least these are free)

Microsoft Embedded Visual C++ v4.0 with SP2
Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 SDK
Microsoft ActiveSync version 3.7 or higher

Apparently, the dlls convert to another format
