Computer parasites have really gotten out of hand.
This index covers some of my experiences and explains

Parasites -
Programs running on your system that you don't need,
don't want, and probably don't even know you have.
-
Browser Hijackers
modify the default home page and default search page.
The primary "fix" is to never use Microsoft Internet Explorer ...
but then the scum lords win. I prefer to simply beat them
and then tell everyone else how to do the same.

Removed with TDSSKiller.

that are almost impossible to get rid of.
The rub this time is that they want you to pay them to get rid of it.
-
SystemDoctor/vacac.dll
is another of those pesky parasite/virus programs
that are almost impossible to get rid of.
While this is related to the WinFixer virus, a different method
is used to remove it.
-
Licum / Gael / Tenga
- This *low risk* virus penetrates the Windows firewall, gets around commercial antivirus software,
and destroys exe files.
-
explorer.exe
- this parasite creates a fake explorer.exe file that clicks advertisements
and makes your machine unusable.
-
Integretel Fraud parasite
is a little unusual, they claim that I used the internet to allow a monthly charge
on my monthly phone bill.
-

Symantec offers a free "on-line" virus scan ... after it downloads and installs
6 megabytes to your c-drive
